A Variety of Microscopes

Perhaps, the microscope of today is one very versatile tool that can be used in every field of interest. This is because of different microscope types that can cater to every microscopy need. Microscope types vary greatly depending form the magnifying power, resolution and the features that it possess. Microscope type ranges from the simple light microscopes to the high-powered ones like the scanning electron microscope and the transmission electron microscope.

One type of microscopes is the compound microscope. It is another kind of light microscope that uses compound lenses to produce a higher magnification of the specimen, however, it has lower resolution. This type of microscope is commonly used to see individual cells even the living cells.

Another microscope type is the dissection microscope which uses light to illuminate the sample and the image produced is three-dimensional. It has, however, lower magnification to make dissection possible.
